Yosemite National Park extends Half Dome permit program for the 2012 season

On 13 January 2012: in Yosemite National Park officials have announced the extension while Half Dome permit program in 2010.Press release on Friday, January 13, 2012, outlines the permit system and details some of the changes to the 2012 programme for hiking. Understand the process of permitting will be critical to Fresno backpackers who wish to make Half Dome hiking or backpacking destination day when the trail to the Summit opened.

According to a press release, day use permit will now be required seven days a week to climb Half Dome via the cable during the summer of 2012, and this permits will be distributed through a lottery season and daily gambling throughout the hiking, as well as through the wilderness permit system. Throughout the season, pedestrian 400 per day will be allowed to hike Half Dome cables. This number shall consist of the 300-day pedestrian and 100 backpackers.

Costs have also risen, partly as a result of a lottery system, which is run by the new Recreation.gov (877-444-6777).
